Iditarod:Support Iron Pearl Kennels & Neurofibromatosis
Monday, March 1st, 2010Iron Pearl Kennels is the home of mushers, Jessica Hendricks and Thomas Lesatz whose goal is to one day win the Iditarod. Their 80+ race dogs range from 2 to 7 years old as well as yearlings and puppies. All of the dogs have been raised or trained by Jessica or Tom, making them competitors that they trust understand and count on for the 10-17 day race across over 1150 miles in Alaska.
Did you know the Iditarod’s entry fee is $4,500! In total the cost of the long race is about $10,000! Isn’t that crazy?! Well this year Thomas (Tom/Bones Mcgee) & Jessica are using this opportunity to help raise money for the race, PLUS raise money for Neurofibromatosis (NF) Inc. Neurofibromatos is a genetic disorder of the nervous system, causing tumors to form on the nerves anywhere in the body at any time.
