4th Event: The Des Plaines River Canoe Marathon

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

We took our 3rd event into the water. 4 Teamschmult.com members participated in a canoe marathon on the Des Plaines River that finished 18.5 miles later in Prospect Heights.

The Des Plaines River Canoe Marathon, founded in 1957 by Ralph Frese, is the second oldest continual canoe race in the United States.

Over 2000 participants are grouped in classes for juniors to masters, men, women, mixed, and adult-child. All types of canoes, including recreation or aluminum canoes, competition cruisers, sea kayaks, and down river kayaks, are welcome.

It was a great time with the 4 members:Bahar, Bethany, Nick Schmidt, Ryan.

It was actually Nick Schmidt’s 1st canoe ride ever.  After the event they relaxed and recharged at Boca dei Beppo.
